Fae update.....Bogie

Here is an update on my Fae force. Updates have not been as frequent as I would like. Real life kicking my butt over the last little while.

It's a Bogie that is pretty much complete except for a few finishing touches on the base. These were a joy to paint up. Brilliant little models these.

I will hopefully have a few more updates posted today.

Take care!

Color Scheme Designer

Just a quick update to share a pretty cool little web based color scheme generator I found.

Try it out....it's actually pretty cool. It's called Color Scheme Designer 3.

You basically choose a color, and it uses the color wheel to give you complimentary color suggestions.

You can find it here:

So many Warbands, so little time

Background Noise

Hello!

I have a huge hobby session planned for today to really get a nice chunk of my Fae finished before my next demo game.

While painting and such I find it's good to have something going in the background to listen to.

Music is good and all, but I find audio books to be the bee's knees for hobby background noise.

So for today's hobby session I have chosen the first book in a series that I have heard a lot of great things about.

Storm Front is a 2000 novel by science fiction and fantasy author Jim Butcher. It is the first novel in The Dresden Files, his first published series that follows the character of Harry Dresden, professional wizard.

So I will be starting this today, and I will let you know what I think about the series initial offering.

Take care!

Warband Ideas - The Vulpes

Hello there!

Welcome to the first installment of my Warband Ideas for Fanticide.

After learning about the Warband creation rules that would come in the Fanticide core rule book, my mind has been exploding with multiple Warbands ideas to populate the land of Nowhere.

Here is the first of many:

The Vulpes    (Vull-pays)

The Vulpes are basically a race of Fox warriors based on the brilliant Splintered Light mini's range.

Splintered Light Minis

In the coming weeks/months after I finish all of my official Fanticide models, I will flesh out a little bit of "fluff" on the Vulpes.

For now however I will show the pics of the minis, and what I plan on using them for.

First up is the Vulpes Legend, and Retainers.

The pack of these fellows comes with 2 of each of the models shown, so with a little conversion work I think I would change one of the standard bearer models into a magic user of some type.

Next up are the Vulpes Stickers.

Following that we have the Vulpes Thumpers.

Then we have the Vulpes Shootists. (In the Vulpes culture it is one of the highest honors to join the ranks of the Nex Telum...roughly translated the "Death Arrows".

I would like to add a Monster, and Peeve option to the Warband, but have not decided on what to go with model wise for those.

More on the Vulpes in the coming weeks....

Take care!

Humble Beginnings...

I have never really had the motivation to start a hobby blog before. I was just always content to view the plethora of fantastic blogs already out there devoted to miniature wargaming.

That all changed a few months ago when I really started to garner interest in an upstart company named Alien Dungeon and their initial rules offering Fanticide.

Fanticide is described by it's creators as:

"The 28mm Fantasy Skirmish Game of Homicidal Warbands".

The list of creators reads like a wargaming rules all-star team.
  • Ernest Baker
  • E. Skye Chaney
  • Rick Priestly
  • Andy Chambers
  • Alessio Cavatore
 Pretty impressive list...no?

After a successful Kickstarter Campaign, the game is now available to purchase on their website.

Alien Dungeon

Prior to public release I joined the Warhost program. This is a program where Alien Dungeon will pay you cash to sell/promote their products. Excellent idea!

I received my Warhost package which came with starter forces for The Liberi, and The Fae. The cards that are used to determine unit activation, some 10 sided dice (game uses d10's)  and the Warhost Core Rule book.

After a few reads of the core rules, and a handful of games I have to say that my excitment over this game was well warranted.

The rules are simple to pick up, and you should have the hang of everything just after your first couple of games.

It's after these first couple of games that you will start to notice the tacticle depth that is possible with Fanticide.

Also one of the biggest selling points of the game for me was the fact that in the full rulebook there will be rules on how to build your own Warband using models you already own.

The possibilities of this will truly be limited only by your imagination, and I have a ton of ideas. (More on these in later posts)

So after priming a few of the models I applied brush to mini, and quickly painted up my first Fae Sticker.

I am quite happy with how it turned out, and I have to say that these mini's from Alien Dungeon are a joy to paint. They are very good sculpts, and are quick to paint up and get on the table.

In a later post I will do a full review on the game and it's miniatures.

Suffice to say that this game has taken over my hobby time full stop, and has my creative juices flowing like no other game has ever done.

So if you are on the fence about this game....don't be. Go now and pick it up. You will not be dissapointed!

.....and I haven't even mentioned the flying monkeys yet.
